In recent decades, the production of wastewater with various pollution has increased significantly due to increasing population, which if not properly managed can cause irreparable damage to the environment. Treatment and reduction of pollution of wastewaters to prevent environmental hazards and also to provide the possibility of reusing them in different sectors is necessary and inevitable todays.

Clinoptilolite Zeolite is an aluminosilicate mineral with a porous structure and high cation exchange capacity, which has a special surface area due to the nanometric porosity and therefore the possibility of surface adsorption and catalytic properties. On the other hand, due to this porous structure, it has the possibility of molecular sieving and absorption of some gases and liquids. These properties, along with high mechanical, chemical and thermal stability, as well as reasonable price, have made it possible to use this environmentally friendly and non-toxic mineral widely in the treatment of various wastewater types.
In various mining operation, especially sulfide metal mining, acidic conditions are created by the extraction, accumulation and oxidation of sulfide minerals such as pyrite, which is a major tailings mineral. Due to their low pH, these acidic drains increase the mobility of many heavy and toxic metals. Low pH and high concentration of harmful metals can cause many hazards in aquatic, soil, plant, and even animal and human environments, and therefore it is necessary to create a balanced environment before entering the environment.
Clinoptilolite zeolite- due to its high cation exchange capacity, alkaline environment, high chemical stability and also reasonable price can be used as a mineral completely non-toxic and environmentally friendly mineral in increasing the pH as well as the adsorption of harmful heavy metals.
